FlockWatch Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 4, 2026

FlockWatch exists to help people resist surveillance. Protecting your privacy isn't an afterthought for us. It's the entire point. This policy explains, plainly, what we collect, what we don't, and why.

The short version

We collect only your email address, and only to sign you in. We don't use analytics or trackers. We don't collect your name, phone number, location, or device information. We keep as little as possible and delete what we don't need. That's it.

What we collect

Your email address. We use it solely to send you a one-time sign-in link or code. We don't use it for marketing, we don't sell it, and we don't share it.

A display name you choose. This can be a pseudonym. We don't ask for or verify your real name.

Content you create. Posts, comments, and event details you choose to publish, plus optional images (like flyers or a profile picture). You control what you share.

Optional images. If you upload a profile picture or flyer images, we strip embedded metadata (such as location data in photos) before storing them.

What we do NOT collect

How your information is protected

Attendance is anonymous. When you mark that you're attending an event, no one can see that you specifically are attending. Not other users, and not even the event's organizer. Only an aggregate count ("142 going") is ever shown.

Protest locations stay general. Event locations shown on the public map are deliberately generalized to a broad area. Exact locations are never exposed publicly.

We minimize what we keep. Content you remove, and reports once they're resolved, are permanently deleted after 14 days. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed, including your uploaded images.

Service providers we use

To operate FlockWatch, we rely on a small number of third-party infrastructure providers:

These providers may process technical information (such as IP addresses) as an inherent part of delivering internet services, and they retain such data briefly for security and reliability under their own policies. We do not store, access, or retain this information ourselves. We chose our providers and configured our systems to minimize this footprint.

Law enforcement requests

Because we collect and retain so little, there is very little we could ever be compelled to produce. If we receive a valid legal request, we will only provide information we actually have, and only to the extent legally required. Our data-minimization practices are, by design, your strongest protection.

Your choices

Age requirement

FlockWatch is intended for people 18 and older.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll revise the effective date above. We're committed to keeping our practices as privacy-protective as they are today.
